Create your own eco-friendly alternative to cling film. WHAT’S THIS ALL ABOUT? The Indytute love a beeswax food wrap and this is a brilliant creative experience in London. They look fabulous, they work, are sustainable, waterproof and naturally antibacterial. If you want to build up a stock of wraps the best way is to make them yourself. In this London experience you will be taught how to design your own patterns, make a lino-cut to create a repeat before printing onto cotton fabric using water-based ink pads. Then the bees get to work, providing the wax that forms the sealed layer. Wraps can be hand washed, line dried and re-ironed, so they provide months worth of use. TELL ME MORE Of course, the great thing about this experience in London is that once you know the method, you can wrap away at home, making the size of square that suits you best, and design your own signature patterns. They certainly cheer up a fridge, and once you get into the zone, no cheese or sandwich will be safe. Great for bread and covering jars and dishes. Your hands give off just enough heat to make the wax slightly softer so the fabric sticks, providing the perfect seal. So say ‘bah’ to cling film that will litter our planet for hundreds of years and ‘hello’ to the bees - they make rather good presents too .we like to think we covered all the angles .. THE ALL IMPORTANT DETAILS Class size 10-12. Print and wax for 2 hours, tea and biccies will be provided to keep you going. Take home a set of 3 printed, square wraps 30cm, 25cm, and 20cm. This experience in London runs at least once a month on a Wednesday or Saturday evening 7-9pm, and occasional Saturday’s from 11-1pm in Kensal Rise (a short hop from Paddington Station or Kensal Green).
